Le Poinçonnet

Back

Le Poinçonnet originated in Lourouer-les-Bois where you can see the 12th century church’s bell tower.

Forest

Château de la Mothe once stood in the forest. All that’s left now is two large ditches, formerly moats which once surrounded the village, and the medieval dungeon built on an embankment. The pre-12th century château belonged to the princes of Déols and the powerful Chauvigny family.
The 13th century Grandmont abbey also stood in the heart of the forest. Now all that remains are the abbey ruins.

Lakes

Berthommiers (very popular with walkers) and Deux Frères lakes hark back to the monks’ attempts to structure their setting.

Church

In the heart of Le Poinçonnet and dating back to 1862.
