Pays Castelroussin - Val de l'Indre

The Pays Castelroussin Val de l’Indre lies in the heart of the Indre department. The Indre River running through the area is lined with parks and grounds for several kilometres forming a green valley ideal for outdoor activities.

Châteauroux lies in the heart of this green valley and is the county town and capital of Sud Berry.
Here you’ll find the famous Château Raoul (the lords of Déols’ château to which Châteauroux owes its name), the Musée-Hôtel Bertrand, the Couvent des Cordeliers and Saint-André, Notre-Dame, Saint-Martial and Saint-Christophe churches which glow blue at nightfall…

To the north of Châteauroux lies Déols, the “mother city” of Châteauroux where you’ll find a proud bell tower, the sole relic of Abbaye Notre-Dame de Déols which was one of the largest abbeys in France in the Middle Ages.
The 5000ha state forest covering Le Poinçonnet and Arthon lies to the south of Châteauroux. It’s one of the largest oak groves in France.

Don’t miss

Château d’Argy, Villedieu-sur-Indre golf course, DARC Festival in Châteauroux, Festival des Lisztomanias in Châteauroux…
