Conference by Lucien Lacour at the Bertrand Museum in Châteauroux on Ernest Nivet (1871-1948): the sculptor's gesture.
Based on the local example of Ernest Nivet, this conference intends to provide keys to
understanding of the approach specific to a sculptor, at the junction of the 19th and 20th centuries. Of
initial modeling to realization in stone or bronze, the art of the sculptor is first of all a succession
technical operations. Each stage is associated with a patient search, subject to repentance, which rarely finds immediate satisfaction. The sculptor's gesture is finally accomplished in an artistic proposition linked to a personal choice of expression. This conference will be based on a set of documents and comparisons of works.
During this conference, the public will be able to discover the restored bust of Roger Cazala and celebrate the opening of Les Milliaires from August 1 to 13.
