I get the tourist map of the city at the tourist office. The visit begins in the historic center. Let's go for 1h30 of stroll in the cobbled streets of the Old Chateauroux. Porte de la Vieille Prison, place Monestier, rue des Pavillons, convent of the Cordeliers… it’s up to me to discover the city must-sees !

Noon strikes at Notre-Dame. I rent a bike at the tourist office and here I am in 5 minutes on the banks of the Indre to go picnicking by the lake of Belle Isle.

I get on my bike and follow the banks of the Indre to the foot of the Château Tour du Balsan Park. I go up in the direction of the park (no one will blame me for dismounting given the steepness of the slope!) and I take advantage of this exceptional green setting. I stroll between the hundred-year-old trees and do not fail to photograph the two castles sheltered in the heart of this former industrial site.

16 h

I push the door Bertrand museum and roam freely in its twenty-six rooms with collections as varied as they are refined. I admire the very beautiful Empire objects inherited from General Bertrand and his family, as well as from the Emperor Napoleoner and his wife Josephine. I am moved by the plaster of the Sakuntala de Camille Claudel and enjoy the collections of Dutch & Flemish paintings. I also discover the temporary exhibition of the moment.

After bringing my bike back to the tourist office, I go in search of this famous potato pancake that everyone talks about and gives me a small glass of wine on the terrace!

La big street comes alive, the Place Monestier is filling up and the restaurants are busy! Between Berry specialties and local products, the choice is not lacking. I consult the practical Guide from the tourist office to find out about the best tables in town. Enjoy your food !
