Bouges Castle

Replica of Petit Trianon of Versailles in Berry, this surprising castle with elegant architecture, known asItalian, is located 27 minutes north of Châteauroux. It was built in the second half of the XVIII^e century at the request of Claude Charles Francois Leblanc de Marnaval, Farmer General of Louis XV.

Master of forges ennobled thanks to a marriage of interests, the master of the place leads a grandiose lifestyle which, combined with the importance of the construction work, ends up ruining him. Twelve after its construction, the castle was seized and sold. The XNUMXth^e sees a succession of different owners including the Prince of Talleyrand.

The rebirth of a castle

However, it is necessary to wait for the beginning of the XX^e century so that move regained its splendor of yesteryear, thanks to the Viguier couple who then acquired it. Henry Viguier, owner of the Bazar de l'Hôtel de Ville and his wife Renée have worked all their lives to restore the castle to its former glory. In particular, they provided it with exceptional, highly refined furniture and modernized the facilities by providing all the necessary comfort (electricity, heating and running water).

The passion ofHenry Viguier for horses is found in the stables, tack rooms and the room dedicated to horse-drawn carriages that can still be admired in the outbuildings of the castle.
